The Church Street "Village Fest" took place June 17-18, 2017, the weekend before this year's Pride. The Village Fest itself was mostly a huge snooze - not a lot going on in the street this year - but the highlight of the entire weekend was the High Heel Strut on Sunday afternoon. Like last year, the objective for contestants was to work their stuff in their best heels, then compete in a high-heeled race down Church Street and back, hopefully without breaking an ankle or two. Hosted by Morgan Page, the event had 8 contestants competing this year. Everyone - participants and spectators - had a scream (literally), and it was a lot of fun with only a few minor injuries occurring during the race. All proceeds from donations went to the sponsor - the Toronto PWA Foundation.
