Yonge Street & Sheppard Avenue

Downtowner that I am, I hadn't been up to North York in quite a while. I decided to try and shoot something a little different today, so I hopped the subway up Yonge Street and got off at Sheppard. Things have changed quite a bit since I was here last, and the urbanization of the area continues.

Starting at the corner of Yonge and Sheppard I walked north up Yonge, then turned on to North York Blvd., passing the Meridian Arts Centre. I don't know this area very well so was pleasantly surprised when the Blvd. took me to the York Cemetery & Funeral Centre. I love photographing cemeteries, although this one was pretty immaculate and lacked the charm of the older cemeteries downtown. Leaving the York Cemetery I walked back to Yonge Street and continued north to Finch Avenue. I paid a quick visit to the new parkette there, Olive Square, then hopped the subway home.

(Small technical note: this photowalk shot in JPG using the Fujifilm film simulation Classic Neg, hence the slight "film look" of these shots.)
