Sir Casimir Gzowski Park & Queen Elizabeth Way Monument

Continuing westward from the Sunnyside Pavilion, you will find Sir Casimir Gzowski Park and, a little further west, the Queen Elizabeth Way Monument. Who is Sir Casimir Gzowski, you may ask? Well, according to Wikipedia, Casimir Gzowski (March 5, 1813 – August 24, 1898), was an engineer best known for his work on a wide variety of Canadian railways as well as work on the Welland Canal. He also served as acting Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1896 to 1897. Continuing even further west in Sir Casimir Gzowski Park, the Queen Elizabeth Monument comes into view. This monument was erected in 1939 to commemorate the opening of Toronto's QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) highway.
