On the weekend of June 25-26, 2016, the Church Street village in Toronto held its 3rd annual pre-Pride festival and Church Street Village Fair. This year the festival stretched from Wood Street to Gloucester Street and was called "Circus So Gay". Not surprisingly, a circus/carnival theme prevailed. The best bit, in my opinion, of the fair took place on Sunday afternoon - the 1st Annual High Heel Strut competition. About 10 contestants (most in some form of drag) competed by out-strutting each other while dressed in their best heels. Fierceness ruled. The highlight of the event was the "drag race" in heels down Church Street and back. EMS was literally standing by for any incidents of broken ankles.
